Termiczne pory roku wyznaczono na podstawie średnich dobowych wartości temperatury powietrza z Obserwatorium Meteorologicznegow Lublinie (1951-1995).Czas trwania termicznych pór roku jest mocno uzależniony od stosowanych metod. Termiczne pory roku w kolejnych trzech okresach 15-letnich pojawiają się coraz wcześniej. Zwłaszcza zima w ostatnim 15-leciu pojawiała się kilka dni wcześniej niż w pierwszym 15-leciu. Lato ostatniego l5-lecia było dłuższe niż w obu wcześniejszych 15-leciach. Pięcioletni okres 1971-1975 charakteryzował się krótszym czasem trwania zimy (tylko 42 dni). The thermal seasons at the Lublin UMCS Meteorological Observatory are based on the daily mean temperature air (1951-1995). The results of the duration of the thermal seasons strongly depend on the used method.The thermal seasons in three 15-year periods occured earlier and earlier. Especially the winter season occured several days earlier in the last 15-year period than in the first 15-year period. The summer of the last 15 years was longer than that of both the earlier 15-year periods.The 5-year period of 1971-1975 is characterized by a short duration of the winter season (only 42 days).

The annual and seasonal variability of air temperature and atmospheric precipitation in Lublin in the period 1951-1996 has been determined by means of the linear trend. The statistical relevance of the changes was established through the variance test of the sample average difference and the Student T test. The linear temperature trend has shown a negligible increasing tendency. On the other hand, the precipitation in the cold season shows a distinct, statistically relevant, diminishing trend. This phenomenon has been observed in many places in Poland. The need for a more precise definition of climate changes is postulated. The current WMO definition is not precise enough.

The courses of daily air temperature at the centre of Lublin (UMCS station) and outskirts (Hajdów station) have been compared based on 1996 datas. The temperature, in average in the most part of the 24 hours period, is higher at the centre than at the outskirts. The highest differences are almost I.s"C and occur between 20.00 and 4.00. The temperature at the both stations between 8.00 and 13.00 is similar.

In this paper the difference between the thermal conditions in the centre of Lublin and its suburbs is analysed. The mean values of the differences in minimal, maximal and mean daily temperature are calculated and their statistical significance is investigated. Also analysed is the influence of air mass types. Finally, connections between temperature differences and atmospheric circulation are studied.

W pracy dokonano analizy porównawczej warunków termicznych w centrum Lublina i na peryferiach. Obliczono średnie wartości różnic temperatury minimalnej, maksymalnej i średniej dobowej oraz zbadano ich istotność statystyczną. Analizowano również wpływy typów mas powietrza. Zbadano związki pomiędzy różnicami temperatury i cyrkulacją atmosferyczną.
