Roczną i sezonową zmienność temperatury powietrza i opadów atmosferycznych w Lublinie w okresie 1951-1996 określono poprzez oznaczenie trendu liniowego. Istotność statystyczną zmian oceniono za pomocą testu wariancji różnicy średnich z próbek oraz testu T Studenta. Liniowy trend temperatury wykazuje nieistotną tendencję rosnącą, natomiast opady atmosferyczne w okresie chłodnym - wyraźny, istotny statystycznie trend malejący. Takie zjawisko obserwowano w wielu miejscach w Polsce. Wysunięto postulat o potrzebie bardziej dokładnej definicji zmian klimatu. Powszechnie używana definicja WMO nie jest dostatecznie dokładna. The annual and seasonal variability of air temperature and atmospheric precipitation in Lublin in the period 1951-1996 has been determined by means of the linear trend. The statistical relevance of the changes was established through the variance test of the sample average difference and the Student T test. The linear temperature trend has shown a negligible increasing tendency. On the other hand, the precipitation in the cold season shows a distinct, statistically relevant, diminishing trend. This phenomenon has been observed in many places in Poland. The need for a more precise definition of climate changes is postulated. The current WMO definition is not precise enough.
