The paper reviews the new methodologies of synthesis and screening of combinatorial libraries of chemical compounds (CCL).The original classification of chemical combinatorial libraries is presented. The combinatorial libraries of chemical compounde are the collection of low (peptides, their analoques, oligonucleotides etc.) or high molecular compounds (fragment antibodies, chemicaly modified phages etc.). They can be obtained via chemical or chemical/biological routes and screened with labelled acceptor (substrate) molecules in order to reveal those of interacting library entities which best meet the selection criteria (conditions of selection). The potential aplications of CCLs in basic research and technology are indicated.
