This paper presents recent views on the issue of biomechanics of the shoulder complex with particular regard for interdependencies between the three anatomical joints of the shoulder girdle. The authors have stressed the significant role of scapulohumeral rhythm for achieving normal mobility ranges of the joint and presented a 3D concept of the scapulohumeral joint's mobility based on Codmann paradox. They also emphasized the role of passive and active stabilizers in ensuring stability and compactness of the individual joints during performance of defined kinds of motion.

W pracy przedstawiono współczesne poglądy na temat biomechaniki kompleksu barkowego ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem wzajemnych zależności pomiędzy trzema stawami anatomicznymi obręczy barkowej. Podkreślono istotną rolę rytmu ramienno-łopatkowego dla uzyskania prawidłowych zakresów ruchomości stawu oraz przedstawiono opartą na paradoksie Codmanna trójpłaszczyznową koncepcję ruchomości stawu ramienno-łopatkowego. Zwrócono również uwagę na rolę stabilizatorów biernych i czynnych w zapewnieniu zwartości i stabilności poszczególnych stawów w trakcie wykonywania określonych rodzajów ruchu.
