Introduction: Therapeutic use of exercises and methods of increasing the range of motion in the joints is present in many rehabilitation programs. In addition to improving the range of motion may decrease pain , there may be improvement of the status of psychophysical status, the streamlining of the activities of daily living and the restoration of harmony between the antagonistic groups of muscles.The aim of the work was to assess whether stretching and postisometric relaxation are an effective methods of increasing the range of motion and reduction of pain and which of that therapeutic applications is more effective. In addition, set out the factors having significant impact on the neck pain ailments. Material and methods: In the investigation took part 20 women with neck pain, which are divided into two groups. The first group perform postisometric relaxation and the second stretching. Exploring the range of motion of the head and neck, and pain before and after therapy. To investigate factors affecting pain ailments used the survey.Results: in both groups, there has been significant increase in range of motion. There was no significant difference between the groups. In the group has been performing postisometric relaxation note significant much improvement of reducing pain ailments than in the second group. The survey revealed that the factors most influencing pain ailments on the neck are: the seating position, sleeping in the wrong position and level of physical activity. Conclusions: many studies shown that both stretching and postisometric relaxation are an effective methods of increasing the range of motion in the joints. Most of the work shown better results after postisometric relaxation treatment than stretching. The results presented in the work of the show the effectiveness of two methods to increase range of motion and only method of postisometric relaxation in reducing pain ailments.
