A man in a mountain environment is exposed to the occurrence of a number of diseases that can lead to loss of health, and frequently loss of life. Awareness of these threats already reduces the probability of their occurrence to some extent. Implementation of the appropriate preventive measures allows to control the risk factors and thus prevents the occurrence of adverse effects. The risk factors may include the effect of low atmospheric pressure, low air temperature, significant ultraviolet radiation, sudden changes of weather conditions and the specific elements of the mountain environment. The combination of these factors due to the lack of knowledge and ignorance can turn going to the mountains into a fatal danger.

Do owych czynników ryzyka można zaliczyć wpływ niskiego ciśnienia atmosferycznego, niskiej temperatury powietrza, znacznego promieniowania ultrafioletowego, nagłych zmian pogodowych oraz charakterystycznych elementów budowy środowiska górskiego.
Background. Purpose of the study was to determine the degree of frequently of injuries in four sports-team games and determine the relationship between the disciplines and the type and prevalence of the most common injuries, as well as their similarities in this, in a multidimensional approach. Material and methods. The research was conducted in the year 2017, in sports clubs on the territory of the Lower Silesia region. Research group accounted for 125 male athletes aged between 15 and 18 years of age (Cadet-junior) with an average of 16.27 years. They represented 4 sports. 22 athletes with American football, 30 athletes football, 49 players handball and 24 volleyball athletes. The analysis uses survey data on the history of injuries related to cultivated discipline related to the circumstances, the part of the body and type of injury. Results. The vast majority of the surveyed 81.60% had an injury as a result of practicing chosen sport. The most common injuries suffered footballers, 96.66%, the least volleyball players 54.55%. The most common injuries are the limbs, especially low limb-70.40% of all identified injuries. The most common type of injury is breaking 54.40%. Overall, a little less injuries to the affected muscle damage (break, sprain) 52% Conclusions. Practice of the presented sports team involves a risk of injury. Most of the injuries are exposed footballers, and the least volleyball players. Injuries most often apply to the lower limbs, with most of the bruises and muscle injuries. Calls for a search for preventive solutions to protect players from injuries.

Materiał i metody. Urazy najczęściej dotyczą kończyn dolnych, z czego większość to stłuczenia i urazy mięśniowe.
Materiał i metody. Do tego badania włączono 26 publikacji, głównie z bazy PubMed i powiązanych, spełniających kryteria wyszukiwania. Wyniki. Dodatkowo niektóre prace dotyczą przebytych operacji, czasu wyłączenia z gry, stosowania usztywnień w celu zabezpieczenia zawodników przed przeciążeniami i uszkodzeniami wymienionych struktur. Wnioski. Istnieje potrzeba większej ilości badań klinicznych, aby znaleźć szczegółowe przyczyny urazów i skutecznie im zapobiegać.

Background. The purpose of this study was to collect current research lines in American football regarding the ankles and the foot. The specific goal was to determine how American football affects the ankle joints and the foot, i.e. the frequency, causes and types of injuries as well as various links between the footwear and failure of these structures. Material and methods. The study included 26 publications, drawn mainly from PubMed and related databases, meeting the search criteria. Results. As a result of the review of the publications, the frequency and types of ankle and foot injuries with regard to lower limbs were discussed along with the conditions predisposing for such injuries. Current works focus primarily on injury surveillance databases and on the research on the impact of footwear on the foot and ankle joint. There are works showing the relationship between ankle and foot injuries on the one hand, and the balance on the other. Additionally, some of the articles deal with the past treatments, the time of exclusion from the game and the use of stiffeners to protect the players against overloads and damage to the above-mentioned structures. Conclusions. Our research draws attention to the problem of foot and ankle injuries and shows that preventive, training and physiotherapeutic programs should still be improved due to their high level of trauma. More clinical study is needed to find the specific causes of injuries and prevent them effectively.
While the epiphyseal stress fracture of the finger’s middle phalanx is a known sport-specific injury occurring only in adolescent climbers, and in other locations it’s rare, no femoral neck stress fracture (FNSF) in sports climbing has yet been reported. An experienced female sport climber (37y, 160 cm, 45 kg, BMI 17.5) suffered from pain in the left inguinal region while climbing, and later, also required a stick to walk. Routine radiography missed the FNSF and it was many weeks before a MRI accurately provided that diagnosis. The time between the X-ray and MRI should have been minimized as it resulted in a delayed diagnosis, unnecessary pain and delayed healing. In this situation the initial clinical investigation, the patient’s history and the X-ray did not lead to a clear diagnosis, and the initial treatment was ineffective. Further investigation by MRI and / or CT scans should have taken place sooner and would have been essential.
