The aim of the following work is to evaluate faulty posture rate among kindergarten children. The following article describes the objective and the character of the promotional and prophylactic program conducted by the Wrocław City Council (Urząd Miasta Wrocławia) concerning the “Keep straight” (“Trzymaj się prosto”) campaign. The program includes youth between age of seven and seventeen in whom slight symptoms of faulty posture, concerning lower limbs and the spine, were revealed during examination. The only prophylactic activity assumed by the “Keep it straight” campaign are corrective exercises in gymnasium and swimming pool. The screening of the children and youth also allows introductional diagnostics and recognition of permanent faults and direction of the patients to specialist treatment in orthopedic and rehabilitation clinics. The screening was conducted on the verge of October and November 2007. A physical posture examination method was used to evaluate the faults that appeared. The children from five of Wrocław`s kindergartens were examined. The following work presents the symptomatology of the most frequent faults and highlights the necessity of conducting prophylactic activity at a very young age. The faulty posture is a serious diagnostic and therapeutic problem among young children and can be a source of severe health problems in their future. 373 children were examined. Faulty posture was revealed among 295 what represents 79,08% of the patients; 78 were described as healthy (20,92%). There were 160 boys (80,8%) and 135 girls (77,14%) in the group with faulty posture. There were 38 (19,2%) boys without faulty posture and 40 (22,86%) girls in the same group.

The aim of this paper was to evaluate the efficacy of cervical cancer prevention program in detection of the pathology based on two systems of classification of cytological smears: the Papanicolaou and The Bethesda System. The study encompassed women participating in the Population Cervical Cancer Prevention and Screening Program, not undergoing cytological exams for at least 3 years in the scope of screening tests reimbursed and provided by the National Heath Fund. The study lasted since July 2004 thru December 2006 and recruited female residents of the Wielkopolska voivodeship. Overall, 12 314 women aged 25-59 were included in final analysis. Cytological screening was performed using the Papanicolaou or the Bethesda classification systems. In this population, 99% of results obtained were normal while 1% was pathological. There were 55 abnormal smears assessed using the Papanicolaou classification and 120 abnormal smears when assessed using the Bethesda system. Histological verification of women with abnormal smear in the Papanicolaou group revealed 14 cases of cervical cancer and 31 lesions consistent with intraepithelial neoplasia at various clinical stages. Corresponding figures in the Bethesda group were 13 cervical cancers and 31 intraepithelial neoplastic lesions at various clinical stages.

Cytologiczne badania przesiewowe u 12 314 kobiet wykonano w oparciu o dwie klasyfikacje cytologiczne: Papanicolaou oraz The Bethesda System. W analizowanej grupie badanych 99% stanowiły prawidłowe wyniki cytologiczne, a 1% – nieprawidłowe. W klasyfikacji Papanicolaou sformułowano 55 nieprawidłowych wyników cytologicznych, a w systemie TBS – 120. Weryfikacja histopatologiczna kobiet z nieprawidłowymi wynikami oceny rozmazu cytologicznego wg Papanicolaou pozwoliła na rozpoznanie 14 nowotworów szyjki macicy i 31 zmian odpowiadających śródbłonkowej neoplazji szyjki macicy o różnym stopniu zawansowania. Podobnie przedstawia się weryfikacja histopatologiczna wycinków tkankowych pobranych od kobiet z nieprawidłowym wynikiem oceny rozmazu cytologicznego wg TBS – pozwoliła na rozpoznanie 13 nowotworów szyjki macicy i 31 zmian śródbłonkowej neoplazji szyjki macicy o różnym stopniu zawansowania.
