The article presents a critical review of the form and content of the Polish translation of Hans-Jörg Rheinberger’s book entitled Epistemologia historyczna (Historical epistemology) (Warsaw: Oficyna Naukowa, 2015. Translated [from German] by Jan Surman. ISBN 978-83-64363-20-7, pp. 336), indicating both the substantive advantages of this book and its some (mainly linguistic) shortcomings.

Apart from the discussion of the idea of historical epistemology, its position among the historical disciplines and the implications it has for science policy, what is also considered is experiment as a basic unit of science.

Maxa Plancka w Berlinie. Oprócz idei epistemologii historycznej, dyskusja dotyczy miejsca tej dyscypliny wśród nauk historycznych i jej wpływu zarówno na politykę naukową, jak i zagadnienie eksperymentu jako podstawowej jednostki nauki.
