This article discusses the reliability of child witness testimony in the context of the development of memory. Memory stability and accuracy are discussed vis-ŕ-vis various types of events: salient events in the child’s life, traumatic events, and events during which an adult has contact with the child’s body. Factors affecting children’s susceptibility to suggestion and the quality of their testimony are described. The article concludes with several recommendations concerning ways of obtaining credible testimony from children.
