In this paper a method to perform direct T and CPT symmetry tests is briefly discussed, exploiting the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen correlations of neutral kaon pairs produced at a ϕ-factory. The KLOE-2 experiment at DAΦNE, the Frascati ϕ-factory, could make statistically significant tests of this type.
The Mac Lane method of classification and construction of all extensions of a group Q by an Abelian group T is demonstrated on the case Q = D_{2}, T = C_{2}. Constructions involving free groups and operator homomorphisms are performed in detail, and the complete list of resulting extensions is given. It is shown that there are 8 classes of gauge equivalency, and they fall into 4 classes of isomorphism. The role of gauge transformations is pointed out. Physical contexts of various constructions are reviewed. A comparison with the direct cohomology definitions is performed.
The Jagiellonian positron emission tomograph project carried out in the Institute of Physics of the Jagiellonian University is focused on construction and tests of the first prototype of PET scanner for medical diagnostic which allows for the simultaneous 3D imaging of the whole human body using organic scintillators. The J-PET prototype consists of 192 scintillator strips forming three cylindrical layers which are optimized for the detection of photons from the electron-positron annihilation with high time-and high angular resolutions. In this article we present time calibration and synchronization of the whole J-PET detection system by irradiating each single detection module with a ²²Na source and a small detector providing common reference time for synchronization of all the modules.
We calculate the lifetime broadening of a nuclear magnetic resonance peak based on the minimal length uncertainty. The application of high resolution nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and its extension to detection of the signature of minimal length scale is explored. We show that in a high precision spectrometry test, the lifetime broadening is a quadratic function with energy.
