External or endonasal dacryocystorhinostomy is the standard therapy for nasolacrimal duct obstruction in managing epiphora. New innovative surgical techniques and adjunctive methods, such as insertion of silicone tubes and the use of laser energy, for the treatment of nasolacrimal obstruction are being introduced continually. Nowadays, it is almost impossible to unequivocally decide which of these methods offers the best results. The aim of this study is to review the surgical methods of nasolacrimal duct obstruction treatment, based on the current literature.

Podstawową metodą leczenia niedrożności dróg łzowych pozostaje zespolenie workowo-nosowe z dostępu zewnętrznego lub przeznosowe. Jednak dotychczasowe metody chirurgiczne ulegają ciągłym modyfikacjom, a dodatkowo wykorzystanie energii laserowej rozszerza chirurgię dróg łzowych o nowe procedury. Dlatego jednoznaczna ocena, która ze współcześnie dostępnych metod jest najbardziej skuteczna w leczeniu niedrożności dróg łzowych, jest w praktyce niemożliwa. Celem pracy jest przegląd najczęściej obecnie stosowanych metod chirurgicznego leczenia niedrożności dróg łzowych w oparciu o aktualne piśmiennictwo.
