Niniejszy przegląd zakresu literatury zgłębia złożoność emocji, jakich doświadczają osoby z chorobami przewlekłymi, koncentrując się na wstydzie i poczuciu winy w różnych kontekstach kulturowych. Analiza literatury zwraca uwagę na ważną rolę jaką pełnią wstyd i poczucie winy w życiu osób z chorobami przewlekłymi oraz na konieczność zwiększania świadomości uwarunkowań kulturowych towarzyszących tym emocjom. Wyniki wskazują na konieczność tworzenia dopasowanych kulturowo interwencji oraz włączania wrażliwości kulturowej podczas rozważań na temat wstydu i poczucia winy w chorobach przewlekłych.
