On variability of mineralcomposition of water in Roztoka Odrzanska (Odra River Mouth, Poland)

Mineral composition of water in Roztoka Odrzanska was studied between 1991-1993. The studies showed that the mineral composition of water depends mainly on the magni-tude of the river Odra flow. The increase in mineralisation of Roztoka Odrzanska water was found to be coinciding with the decline of the monthly mean Odra flow below 395 m3?s-1. Specific changes of mineral composition occur in the mixing zone of fresh and saline water. They can be related to coagulation-peptization processes of colloides and sorption processes which use up SO2-, and Mg2+ ions.

The paper results of a study on general chemical indicators of surface water quality carried out in Roztoka Odrza?ska in 1982-1994.The parameters in question were: oxygen content, chloride, nitrate and dissolved phosphate concentrations and BOD5. An attmept was undertaken to determine the influence of the Odra River flow on the chemical status of Roz-toka water. Threshold values of Qs were determined in three regimes of water transport: a back flow of water from the Szczecin Lagoon in the full river-bed and bidirectional (two-layered) water movements - with back flow prevailing and with riverine inflow prevailing.
