The present study investigates the differentiating role of religious involvement in a level of resiliency, religious orientations, and life attitudes in a sample of 131 women. We examined the associations between resiliency and religious orientations as psychological resources, and life attitudes as an indicator of mental health in the noetic dimension in 4 groups. The following methods were used: the KPB-PO (Uchnast, 1997), a set of scales “Your religiosity” (Socha, 1992), and the Life Attitude Profile-Revised (Reker, 1992). Analyses of the data confirmed that religious involvement differentiates the level of resiliency, intrinsic and extrinsic religious orientations, as well as life attitudes excluding death acceptance. Furthermore, the results suggested that resiliency is an important resource in believers and non-practicing believers. Sense of security is a relevant correlate of meaning of life in non-believers. However, internally motivated religiosity which is characteristic of deep believers seemed to have the greatest influence on mental health.

The presented study is a part of project aimed at finding the sources of aggression among children in early school age. Exploratory research included 48 children, their parents (41 mothers, 19 fathers) and 2 teachers. To examine the relationship between the intensity of aggressive behaviour among pupils and emotionality of their parents, the following methods have been applied: Emotional Control Questionnaire by J. Brzeziński, Type D Scale by N. Ogińska-Bulik, Z. Juczyński and J. Denollet and the Student Behaviour Rating Scale by I. Grzankowska. The analyses have shown that mothers’ motivation to behave rationally is positively correlated with indirect aggression among children whereas fathers’ cognitive control of emotogeneous situations correlates negatively with the number of acts of physical aggression acts taken by children at school. The results indicate that parents emotional control could predict children aggressive behaviour. Due to a limited sample size, replication of the research is recommended.

Słusznie recenzent podręcznika Czesław Nosal napisał: „Nowy podręcznik autorstwa Jerzego Brzezińskiego Metodologia badań psychologicznych stanowi oryginalne osiągnięcie w stosunku do poprzednich edycji. Autor dokonał wielu istotnych zmian w stosunku do poprzednich edycji […]. Ten podręcznik nie ma sobie równych w kontekście literatury światowej”. Podręcznik dotyczy ważnych kwestii występujących w całym postępowaniu badawczym – od formułowania projektu badawczego, poprzez wszystkie etapy badań, aż do wpisania uzyskanych wyników badań do wyników badań innych autorów. „Sztuka prowadzenia badań naukowych – pisze Sir Peter Medawar – to sztuka sprawiania, że trudne problemy stają się możliwe do rozwiązania, dzięki opracowaniu do nich odpowiedniego podejścia” (Crick, 1997, s. 147).
