Particle size distribution (PSD) in laboratory made crude oil-seawater emulsion for various salinities and time of storing was determined using a microscope. It was established thar the type of particle size distribution changes with salinity and time.

The solar energy influence on light attenuation coefficient (LAC) spectrum and particle size distribution (PSD) of laboratory crude oil-seawater emulsion was investigated. It was demonstrated that light facilities dispergation of emulsion and cauises the increase of LAC in ultraviolet range during storing.PSD of crude oil droplets (d ? 0.5 ?m) in emulsion did not depend on lighting conditions during storing of emulsion.Because of increase of lighy attenuation coefficient selectivity for illuminated emulsion, the increase of number of small droplets (d ?0.5 ?m) of crude oil is highly probable.

This paper presents the results of laboratory research on light attenuation (within the light wavelenght from 260nm to 800nm) that was carried out for Western Oder water sampled at three points, from november 1990 till March 1991. At the same time, concentration and size of suspended particles were measured with a microscope. An attempt to interpretate the results of light attenuation measurements as an effect caused by observed suspended matter was made.
