The focus of the paper is on the research into the selection of wheelchairs, including active wheelchairs, which has been conducted since the beginning of the 1980s. The research involves: a brief history, determinants of progress in wheelchairs and active wheelchairs, the effect of using wheelchairs and developmental tendencies. The author recommends her own solution to the problem of selecting wheelchairs, including active wheelchairs.

Artykuł koncentruje się na badaniach nad doborem wózków dla niepełnosprawnych, w tym wózków aktywnych, rozwijanych od początku lat 80. XX wieku. Badanie obejmuje skróconą historię wózków dla niepełnosprawnych i wózków aktywnych, determinanty postępu w tej dziedzinie, efekty ich użytkowania oraz kierunki rozwoju. Autorka przedstawia własne rozwiązanie problemu doboru wózków dla niepełnosprawnych, w tym wózków aktywnych.
