Internet addiction has been identified as a major mental health problem, particularly among young nursing students. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the Big Five personality traits and Internet addiction in this population. This study adopts a descriptive, quantitative, and correlational approach among 388 nursing students enrolled in a Higher Institute of Nursing Professions and Health Techniques in Morocco. The Internet Addiction Test (IAT), the Big Five Inventory (BFI) were used. A student-test was used to compare the differences in Internet addiction between different categorical groups. Pearson correlation was used to determine correlations between Internet addiction and personality traits. Linear regression analysis was performed to explore the effects of independent variable groups on Internet addiction. The overall prevalence of Internet addiction was 68.3% (AI > 30). There were significant differences in Internet addiction by age group (p = 0.001), gender (p = 0.004), grade (p = 0.003), and reasons for using the Internet (p = 0.004). Neuroticism (β = .493, p < .05) and extraversion (β = .479, p < .05) were positive predictors of Internet addiction, whereas agreeableness (β = -.461 p < .05) and conscientiousness (β = -.395, p < .05) were negative predictors. Personality traits are critical contributors when designing individualized intervention strategies that contribute to the prevention and reduction of Internet addiction in nursing students.

Introduction: Pressure ulcers and their consequences can occur in any patient regardless of the underlying disease, so the knowledge of their prevention and treatment is extremely important. The aim of the study: The aim of the study was to analyze the state of students’ knowledge on pressure ulcers. Material and methods: The research was carried out in the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin among students of nursing. The study involved 203 full-time students. Data was collected using a questionnaire consisting of 27 questions. The questions addressed the issues of the formation, prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers. The Kolmogorow-Smirnow, Fisher-Snedecor test, (ANOVA) with Spearman’s correlation and Student’s t-test were applied for statistical analysis. The statistical significance was assumed to be p ≤ 0.05. Results: Over half of the respondents (57.64%) had a sufficient level of knowledge on pressure ulcers prevention and treatment. The level increased with the duration of the study, the highest was in the last few years, both I and II cycle of studies. The better (the higher) subjects assessed their knowledge about prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers, they were characterized by a higher level of knowledge. Conclusions: The knowledge of nursing students on pressure ulcers increases with subsequent years of study. The selfassessment of students’ knowledge about pressure ulcers, their prevention and treatment is accurate. Students of the consecutive years are better prepared to carry out anti-bedsore prevention. Students are aware of the need to have knowledge, as well as practice in the field of prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers.

Mindfulness-based stress reduction has been shown to be effective in reducing stress levels and developing emotional competencies in nursing students, however, in some countries such as Morocco, this practice remains unexplored. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of a mindful- ness-based stress reduction program on nursing students. The study used a quasi-experimental design in a single pre- test-post-test group with 20 nursing students from the Higher Institute of Nursing Professions and Health Techniques of Tetouan. Data were collected using a personal information form, the Perceived Stress Scale in Clinical Practicum (PSS- CP), and the Emotional Intelligence Scale (EIS). The results of the study indicate that the students' mean score on the PSS-CP scale was 2.19 ± 1.35 in the pretest, but decreased to 1.89 ± 1.28 in the posttest (p < .05). While the students' mean EIS score was 3.44 ± 1.26 in the pretest, it in creased to 3.76 ± 1.19 in the posttest (p < 0.05). A statistically significant relationship was found between perceived stress and EIS scores (r = 0.864, p < 0.05). Mindfulness-based stress reduction program training can improve psychological health by developing emotional competence and reducing stress in nursing students.

BACKGROUND Some publications, as well as some own observations confi rm the opinion that mental condition of contemporary living people is not very good. Doubts about the average mental state concern, in particular, young people. This raises the question whether the mental condition of young people in our country diff ers signifi cantly from the average mental status in other European countries. MATERIAL AND METHODS The authors performed a survey, using the own questionaire discussed in their previous work. They carried out comparative studies of psychological condition of two very similar groups of young people. These were fi rst year students of nursing studies in Belgium and Poland. RESULTS The results of this study revealed statistically signifi cant diff erences. It appears that students in Belgium have fewer emotional problems, while their engaging to social challenges are lower than among students in Poland. CONCLUSIONS The premises exist behind that general mental condition of European nations is not good. This justify further research comparing mental condition of young people of diff erent European countries.

Były to studentki pielęgniarstwa pierwszego roku studiów w Belgii i w Polsce.

Cel. Celem tego badania jest określenie związku pomiędzy altruizmem, empatią a asertywnością u studentów pielęgniarstwa. Materiał i metody. Jest to badanie opisowe. Badanie zostało przeprowadzone wśród 659 studentów pielęgniarstwa na wydziałach pielęgniarskich kolegiów zdrowia dwóch uniwersytetów w regionie Centralnej Anatolii w Turcji. Dane zostały zebrane za pomocą kwestionariusza osobowego , skali altruizmu , Empathic Tendency Scale i Ruthus Assertiveness Inventory W analizie danych zastosowano rozkład procentowy, średnie odchylenie standardowe, analizę korelacji i analizę ufności. Wyniki. Średni wynik oceny altruizmu studentów wynosił 62,69 ± 11,35,ich średnia skłonność do empatii/ średnia cena postawy empatycznej wynosi 66,25 ± 11,05, a ich średnia ocena Ruthus Aseriveness Inventory 7,36 ± 15,52. Stwierdzono dodatnią liniową i statystycznie istotną korelację między altruizmem a postawami empatycznymi/skłonnością do empatii studentów , którzy wzięli udział w badaniu (r = 0,181, p = 0,000) oraz między ich altruizmem a poziomem Assertiveness Inventory Ruthus (r = 0,186, p = 0,000). Wnioski. Wraz ze wzrostem skłonności do empatii studentów i ich asertywności wzrasta również poziom ich altruizmu.
