Physical activity is considered a healthy behavior as lifestyle component that can prevent chronic disease and attributed to numerous psychological and physical benefits. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of exercise dependence and narcissism components on eating disorders in male bodybuilders. The study was a correlational study and the statistical population consisted of male bodybuilders in city clubs with more than one year of continuous training of at least three sessions a week. 250 male bodybuilders were selected by cluster sampling. The research tool consisted of three questionnaires: narcissistic personality, exercise dependency and eating disorders. For data analysis correlation and regression tests were performed by SPSS version 21 and p-value less than 0.05 was considered as significant. The results showed that addiction to exercise and narcissism and their components had a significant positive relationship with eating disorders (all P-values < 0.01). Regression models revealed that exercise dependence and narcissism were able to predict 46% of variance in eating disorder (p < 0.01). According to the data, nutritional behaviors can be promoted by improving narcissistic tendencies and dependency on exercise

Background: The aim of the study was to establish preferential use of dietary, physiological and pharmacological supplementation by persons practising recreational bodybuilding and to check whether it results from the respondents’ knowledge or whether it is accidental. Material/Methods: The group of subjects comprised 100 persons practising recreational bodybuilding in four well-known Lodz gyms. In the study the method of a diagnostic survey was used. A questionnaire containing 31 closed and opened questions constituted the research tool. Results: It was demonstrated that the state of knowledge concerning dietary supplementation is insufficient, despite its optimistic self-assessment, and because of that the preferences as to the applied nutrients are inappropriate. The knowledge of physiological supplementation substances and preferences of their use seem appropriate, although the multitude of the mentioned means can attest to information chaos in this respect. Results of the poll seem to show that the problem of illegal pharmacological supplementation refers not only to professional sports but also, unfortunately, to recreation. Conclusions: It is recommended to conduct a widespread informative action among persons practising recreational bodybuilding to make them aware of dietary supplementation. The majority of respondents have a sufficient level of knowledge of means of physiological supplementation, and preferences of using them seem correct. Even though the state of knowledge concerning health complications hazards when taking prohibited pharmacological supplementation should be regarded as high, still the majority of the subjects (58%) do not reject the possibility of using it. Inconsistencies of attitudes among persons practising bodybuilding recreationally manifest themselves through simultaneous support for anti-doping tests and the desire to take advantage of unlawful pharmacological supplementation.

Mięśnie brzucha pełnią wiele istotnych anatomicznych i fizjologicznych funkcji, m.in wspierają tułów i kręgosłup, umożliwiają ruch ciała i utrzymują narządy w miejscu poprzez regulację wewnętrznego ciśnienia w jamie brzusznej.

Abdominal muscles have many vital anatomical and physiological functions, including supporting the trunk and spine, allowing body movement and holding organs in place by regulating internal abdominal pressure. They can be divided into two groups: anterolateral, which include flat and vertical muscles, and posterior abdominal walls muscles. Due to the growing interest in physical activity, many people are looking for a recipe for strong and visible abdominal muscles. To achieve this, a combination of cardiorespiratory, strength, high intensity interval training (HIIT) and strict abdominal muscle exercises, with proper diet and lifestyle is required. The percentage of whole body fat and the level of visceral fat also play an important role in the process of visualization. Exercises for abdominal muscles should be diversified, based on various types of movement and engaging all major muscles. It is recommended to perform training regularly and modify it frequently, taking into account progression and increase in the difficulty level. The purpose of this review is to present the current state of knowledge on this topic in a clear and accessible manner, primarily addressed to those professionally involved in or interested in bodybuilding.
