Feliks Drzewiński was the professor of mineralogy and physics at Wilno (Vilnius) University. He was the author of the text-book of mineralogy – first in Polish. Meteorites also interested him. Drzewiński was the follower of the theory of the atmospheric origin of meteorites. The natural electricity of atmosphere was had the cause of their rise.

In the publication of 1856 there was some information about the meteorite found in the vicinity of Lipno near Płock (central Poland). According to the article’s author it fell down about 1818. The publication also contained the meteorite chemistry, which was examined by A. Laugier in Paris. The current place of keeping the meteorite remains unknown. Unexpected epilogue.

Wolski was the teacher of physics at grammar-school in Białystok. The exact investigations of the strewn field were not executed. The Białystok meteorite was forgotten stay on many years.

In the middle of June 1927 a few inhabitants of the village of Gaj (10 km from Wyszków; central Poland) witnessed a meteorite fall. The solid fell into a swamp, which made searching for it very difficult. Searching work was held in the years 1957-1958, 1981-1982, 1990 and 1996. Present searching, which was started in 2005, still has not led to the meteorite finding.
