Drawing is the easiest language to communicate. It is the fastest and most personal way to write down fleeting thoughts, creative plans, ideas, impressions, or momentary revelations. It is also a tool needed for shaping sensitivity – a long-lasting process, irreplaceable with any computer. This sensitivity is needed to read works of art. Architectural masterpieces are also read through images - while images are captured in our memory with drawings. The author reflects on the role of drawing in recording and memorizing space in all of its scales: from the landscape interior to the architectural detail.

Architektura sakralna od zawsze była elementem wyróżniającym się w krajobrazie. Katedry ikonizowały miasta, panowały nad nimi, zachwycały potęgą i szlachetnością formy zewnętrznej, oszałamiały i porażały kunsztem dekoracji wnętrza. Współczesna świątynia utraciła prymat dominanty krajobrazowej, jej ranga urbanistyczna również osłabła, a architektonicznie trudno jej konkurować z ekstrawaganckimi budowlami dzisiejszych gwiazd architektury. Pytanie o kształt świątyni we współczesnym pejzażu kulturowym wciąż wywołuje dyskusje i wątpliwości: jakie jest jej miejsce w zmieniającej się przestrzeni publicznej, a przede wszystkim, czy i jak człowiek zredefiniuje i stworzy swoje miejsca sacrum w nowej, płynnej rzeczywistości?
