A strong laser field ( ≈ 10¹⁵ W/cm²) induced low-collisional-energy charge transfer process in Ne⁺-He system is explored. In the low collisional energy regime, the cross-section can be ≈ 10¯¹⁷ cm² which is about two orders of magnitude higher than the collision-only process. With increasing collisional energy the cross-section curve displays flattens and the charge capture tends to be practically independent of the laser detuning. In addition, we find that the capture probability in this Ne⁺-He system varies significantly with the laser polarization angle.

A laser induced quadrupole-dipole collisional energy transfer system of Ca-Sr is proposed and the four-state quadrupole-dipole laser induced collisional energy transfer model is presented. The excitation spectrum calculated for the Ca-Sr system is characterized by a doublet structure and a width which is about twice wider than the dipole-dipole laser induced collisional energy transfer results. Calculating results show that the full width at half peak of the profile becomes larger and the quasi-static wing tends to be a broad flat as the field intensity increases, which are different from the reported results of dipole-dipole laser induced collisional energy transfer processes, dipole-quadrupole and quadrupole-quadrupole. A cross-section of 2.48× 10^{-14} cm^{2} at a laser field intensity of 5.21× 10^{7} V/m is obtained which indicates that the quadrupole-dipole process can be an effective way to transfer energy selectively.

To characterize chromosomes and the interspecific relationships within the genus Kengyilia, 8 species were used for Giemsa C-banding analysis. Results indicated that the species differed in C-banding patterns. K. gobicola, K. alatavica and K. batalinii had distinct centromeric bands and no banded chromosomes, while K. hirsuta, K. longiglumis, K. melanthera, K. rigidula and K. thoroldiana had more abundant and diagnostic C-bands with interstitial and terminal bands.

The complete coding sequences of 3 porcine genes ? ASPA, NAGA, and HEXA ? were amplified by the reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) based on the conserved sequence information of the mouse or other mammals and referenced pig ESTs. These 3 novel porcine genes were then deposited in the NCBI database and assigned GeneIDs: 100142661, 100142664 and 100142667. The phylogenetic tree analysis revealed that the porcine ASPA, NAGA, and HEXA all have closer genetic relationships with the ASPA, NAGA, and HEXA of cattle. Tissue expression profile analysis was also carried out and results revealed that swine ASPA, NAGA, and HEXA genes were differentially expressed in various organs, including skeletal muscle, the heart, liver, fat, kidney, lung, and small and large intestines. Our experiment is the first one to establish the foundation for further research on these 3 swine genes.

Fe_{75}Co_5Zr_{10}B_{10} amorphous alloy prepared by melt-spinning was annealed at various temperatures. The thermal property and microstructures were investigated by differential thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction, and transmission electron microscopy. The crystallization process of Fe_{75}Co_5Zr_{10}B_{10} amorphous alloy is complex. The α-Fe phase precipitates from the amorphous matrix in the initial stage of crystallization. The α-Mn type (χ) phase precipitates at 570°C, but transforms to α-Fe phase and the Laves C14(λ) phase at higher temperature. In the final stage of crystallization, Fe_3Zr, Fe_2Zr, and unknown phases are observed and the λ-phase disappears. The α-Fe phase preferentially nucleates after annealing at 530C for 10 min and the χ-phase preferentially nucleates after annealing at 600C for 10 min. The nucleation barrier of χ-phase is larger than that of α-Fe phase. The local structure of χ-phase is more similar to amorphous phase.

Amorphous Fe_{80-x}Nb_{x}B_{20} (x = 5, 10, 15) ribbons were prepared by single-roller melt spinning method. The thermal, structural and magnetic properties of Fe_{80-x}Nb_{x}B_{20} (x = 5, 10, 15) ribbons were investigated using differential thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction, and vibrating sample magnetometer. The thermal stability is the lowest for Fe_{70}Nb_{10}B_{20} ribbon and the highest for Fe_{65}Nb_{15}B_{20} ribbon. Along with the increase of Nb content, the supercooled liquid region Δ T_{x} increases, indicating that the amorphous formation ability improves. The primary stages of crystallization of the three ribbons are different. The primary devitrification phases are Fe_{23}B_6 type for Fe_{70}Nb_{10}B_{20} and Fe_{75}Nb_5B_{20} ribbons, and α-Fe type for Fe_{65}Nb_{15}B_{20} ribbon. Fe_{80-x}Nb_{x}B_{20} (x = 5, 10) ribbons are ferromagnetic and the Fe_{65}Nb_{15}B_{20} ribbon is paramagnetic. The saturation magnetization (M_{s}) decreases with increasing Nb content.

Adipose triglyceride lipase (ATGL) catalyses the initial step in triglyceride hydrolysis, so the ATGL gene is a candidate for growth and fat traits in chickens. Nine reported single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) located in 3 exons of the chicken ATGL gene were chosen for genotyping an F2 population. Only 5 SNPs were confirmed for polymorphisms and used for association analyses. The results show that c.531G>A (p.E177Syn) was not associated with any growth and fat traits (P > 0.05), but c.782G>A (p.S261N) was associated with body weight (BW) on days 14, 21, 35, 63, 70, 77, cingulated fat width and abdominal fat pad weight (P < 0.05), and significantly associated with BW on days 42, 49, and 56 (P < 0.01). Significant associations of c.903C>T (p.F301Syn) with BW on days 49 and 77 days and crude protein content of breast muscle (P < 0.05), and c.1164G>A (p.K388Syn) with BW on day 7 (P < 0.05) were also detected. Additionally, c.1069T>C (p.L357Syn) was associated with breast muscle colour (P < 0.05), and significantly associated with crude fat (ether extract) content of breast muscle (P < 0.01). Thus the missense SNP of c.782G>A (p.S261N) was significantly associated with the largest number of chicken growth and fat traits in this study.
