A basic task of forest reserves, apart from conservation of gene resources of the entire flora and fauna, is great care taken to preserve gene pools of native tree species. In strict reserves forest succession in its striving for climax eliminates admixed tre species. It is only in partially protected reserves that protected tree species belong to admixed ones may be preserved through application of renovating cutting down of trees.

Linnaea borealis in Central Poland is a migrating pseudorclic. The author describes an example of local migrations of the plant, which became extinct in the reserve established for its protection, next appeared in another place, to be finally reintroduc ed artificially to the reserve. The analysis encompasses also conditions of effective protection in reserves (summary see page 197).
