Ag-staning of permatocytes of Psylla alni (2n=25) suggests that the organizer regions (NOR) are present in a pair of medium size autosomes. NOR activity was observed throughout the meiotic prophase including diakinesis.

Karyotypes of 8 species of Psyllina (Strophingia ericae, Craspedolepta flavipennis, C. malachitica, Rhinocola aceris, Psyllopsis fraxinicola, Cyamophila cinnamomea, Psylla alni, and Psylla eucallypti) were described for the first time. The chromosome number for a further 14 species is summarized on the basis of the literature data.

Karyotype (number, shape, chiasma frequency), C-band and AgNORs pattern of Gampsocleis glabra, G. ussuriensis, and G. sedacovi (represented by two subspecies, G. s. sedacovi and G. s. obscura) are reported. Differences in the chromosome number, mean chiasma frequency, and position of C-band (paracentromeric, interstitial, and distal) between species are discussed.

Three populations (two from Russia and one from Poland) of the grasshopper Chorthippus albomarginatus were analysed by means of C-band and chiasma frequencies. Differences between populations were found and are discussed.
