The paper contains a list of taxa of diatoms identified in samples taken from the Luciąża river in 1974 and 1979. There were determined species occuring in all the analyzed samples. Two kinds of diatoms rarely met in Polish rivers were revealed. These are: Navícula disjuncta Hust., Neidium distincte-punctatum Bust.

Diatoms communities in the Luciąża River identified in two observation stations and, namely, in the station 2 located in the village of Cieszancwice (spring section) and in the station 9 in the village of Przygłów (river estuary section) were compared by means of the rank correlation method and Marczewski and Steinhaus coefficient of similarities. There were also compared diatoms communities in different periods in the same stations.

Praca powstała w wyniku badań porównawczych zbiorowiska okrzemek rzeki Strawy, prowadzonych w latach 1974— 1975, przed i po uruchomieniu oczyszczalni ścieków w Piotrkowie Trybunalskim. Zamieszczono spis gatunków okrzemek oraz tabelę przedstawiającą ogólną liczbę jednostek taksonomicznych, w której podano również ich skład ilościowy w 1 ml mikrobentosu. Zbiorowiska okrzemek w badanych okresach porównano metodą korelacji rang.

This study was aimed at analysis of association of bentos diatoms of the Strawa river, at a stand in Przygłów, in 1974 (before establishment of the sewage cleaning station in Piotrków Trybunalski) and in 1975 (after establishment of the station). Results of physico-chemical studies of the water of the Strawa river are reported. In general, 237 taxons of diatoms were determined. Associations were compared by the rank correlation method after Kadłubowska. Within the period of investigations, no changes in the water purity class and in the diatomic associations of the Strawa river were found.

Sampling was done in one site established in the Luciąża River on for occasions over the annual cycle. Observation data are presented in contingency tables, and their significance tested with the χ² test. Results obtained testify to the dependence of the numbers of dead and alive cells first of all on season, and also on water temperature.

The paper contains a list of algae taxa collected in 3 water resevoirs in the Botanical Garden in Łódź in the years 1996-1997. 128 taxa of algae from periphyton and benthos has been identified: 96 of Chrysophyla, (among them 93 Dacillariophyceae), 21 Chlorophyla, 8 Cyanophyta, 2 Euglenophyta, 1 Pyrrophyta. Diatoma: Achnanthes lanceolata, Achnanthes minutissima, Cocconeis placeniula, Eunotia hinularis, Gomphonema parvulum, Navicula capitata var. capitata, Navicula cryptocephala, Navicula cuspidata, Nitzschia palea were found in all the samples in 1997 year.

Results of observing morphological diversity of P. boryanum and P. duplex occurring in samples from Pond Okręt are presented. The same teratological forms that were collected in the water body in 1968-1969 continued to inhabit it also after over a dozen years, in 1984-1987.
