The purpose of the investigation was to establish the relationship between chosen personality variables, it is sense of coherence, basic hope, type D personality, and social support with sense of purpose of life and its change among individuals who lost close person. 40 subjects (20 men and 20 women) participated in the study which was conducted in two stages (after the loss and 6 months later). Mean age was 43,8 (SD=17,6). Five measures were used in the study: Purpose in Life Test, Sense of Coherence Questionnaire, Basic Hope Inventory, D-14 scale to assess type D personality, Social Support Questionnaire. The results of the investigations confirmed the relationship between personality variables with sense of purpose of life in both stages. They also indicated that increase of sense of purpose of life is related primarilly with sense of coherence and social integration.
