Generic substitution on the Polish pharmaceutical market is becoming more common. Both doctors and that pharmacists are not fully aware of the differences that may exist between original and generic drugs so their decision that should be substantive therapeutic decision is random. In most cases, it is not supported by the knowledge of the bioequivalence study, which is necessary for rational drug substitution. Much more complicated is the problem in the case of conversion of drugs available in forms with modified release. The authors wish to bring this important for the practitioner and pharmacist problem that we encounter in everyday work.

Substytucja generyczna na polskim rynku farmaceutycznym jest coraz częstsza. Zarówno lekarze jak i farmaceuci nie do końca są świadomi różnic, jakie mogą występować pomiędzy lekami oryginalnymi i generycznymi a zatem ich decyzja, która powinna być terapeutyczną decyzją merytoryczną jest przypadkowa. W większości przypadków nie jest ona poparta znajomością badania biorównoważności, które jest niezbędne do racjonalnej substytucji leków. O wiele bardziej skomplikowany jest problem w przypadku zamiany leków dostępnych w postaciach o modyfikowanym uwalnianiu. W pracy autorzy pragną przybliżyć ten jakże ważny dla lekarza praktyka oraz farmaceuty problem, z którym spotykamy się w codziennej pracy.
