The clammy goosefoot Chenopodium pumilio R. Br. is a rare anthropophyte in the Polish flora. Hitherto, this species was recorded in Gdańsk and Rybnik. The present study describes the newly-discovered locality in Stryków near Łódź (Central Poland), the occurrence of this species in Poland and the general geographical distribution in the world.

A list of 44 non-accJimatized species of anthropophytes so far unknown in the area of Łódź is presented. To the most important belong Amaranlhus deflexus L., Amaranlhus gracilis (Desf.) Poir., Barbarea intermedia Boreau, Bromus japonicus Thunb., Citrullus colocynthis (L.) Schrader, Citrullus lanatus (Thunb.) Mansfield, Commelina communis L., Phoenix daclylifera L., Rapistrum pererme (L.) All., Setaria viridis (L.) Bauv. subsp. pycnocoma (Steud) Tzvel.

The work includes the list of vascular plants, discovered in 1986-1987, new for the city of Łódź. The system of references for their localities is represented by means of the charts which divide the city into 213 quadrangles, their sides 1 km long. It is connected with the charts used in the atlas of distribution of vascular plants in Poland.

The article contains the diagnoses and characteristics of twenty six vegetation units of a landscape reserve named Bąkowa Góra. It serves as a commentary to the legend of the map representing the real vegetation of that region in the working scale of 1:5000. The plant communities of Querco-Fagetea and Vaccinio-Piceetea classes dominate that particular area whereas both Carici remotae-Fraxinetum community and the one including Valeriana dioica are the most interesting plant associations found there.

The paper it a continuation of a sequence of materials concerning the Boraginaceae family, published in part XI (Fagasiewicz 1987). Apart from Myosotis patusiris (L.) Nathorst it includes the herbal material of genus Myosotis L. from the Herbarium Universitatis Lodziensis. They are the following species: Myosotis arvensis, L.) Hill., M. caespitosa Schultz, M. discolor Pers. (M. versicolor (Pen.) Sm.), M. ramosissima Rochel (M. collina auct. piur.), M. sparsiflora Mik., M. stricta Link ex R. et Sch. (M. micrantha Pall.) and M. sylvatica (Ehrh.) Hoflrc. The changes of indications during a revision were marked with* after the name of a herbalist.

The investigations have been carried out in the Las Łagiewnicki reserve, which is localized within the Łódź City. Within the area of 70 hectares 279 vascular plant species have been found. The statistical analysis against the ecological characteristics of the plant species and anthropogenic transformation is presented. Important part of plant species growing in the reserve belongs to locally endangered and rare in Central Poland. Among otheer there are present here species like: Corallorhiza trífida Chátel., Trollius europaeus L. s.s., Polygonatum verticillatum (L.) All., Neottia nidus-avis (L.) Rich.

One of the key components of The Blue-Green Network in Łódź are valuable natural areas like the relicts of the natural wildlife (called “Green Treasures of Łódź”) which parts have been preserved in Łódź in spite of two hundred years, very intense urbanization processes. The result of years of geobotanical research in the city was establishing 23 areas of nature protection and proposing of 12 additional natural areas which need to be protected (8 areas of landscape protection and 4 ecological sites). Existing and proposed areas of nature protection, including river valleys, build the wildlife system of Łódź. Predominantly the important role in this concept play the Łódź’s river valleys with their vegetation potential. The Sokolowka River Valley which is located in the Northern-West part of Łódź was the exemplary research field for geobotanical and sozological valorization of the natural habitat of the Blue-Green Network. Within the Sokolowka valley there are retained fragments of precious nature ecosystems.
