The study aimed at determining students’ perception of acquisition of road safety skills among in-school adolescents in Imo State. Six research questions and five hypotheses were designed to give direction to the study In-school adolescents in Imo state constituted the population of the study. A sample frame of 673 students was drawn through multi - stage sampling technique for the study. A questionnaire was the main instrument used for the study. The instrument was validated through face validity and it had a reliability coefficient was 0.76. The major results of the study were that road safety skills items regarded as very important were by students: Use walk ways especially in urban centers when walking along the road (×̄ = 2.57). Use Zebra crossing while walking or riding a bicycle (×̄ = 2.58). Obey all traffic signs and regulations while walking, riding, or driving (×̄ = 2.84). Fill pot holes properly at home, school and community (×̄ = 2.50). Avoid use of ear phones or plugs while walking, riding, or driving on the road (×̄ = 2.66). Gender, family typology, status of single parenthood, educational qualification of parents, and person responsible for family health were significant on students’ perception of acquisition of road safety skills. The perception of students whose single parents were unmarried was significantly higher than that of those whose single parents were separated and also higher than that of those whose single parents were widows or widowers, The perception of students whose parents held FSLC was significantly higher than that of those whose parents held OND/NCE. and also higher than those whose parents held GCE. The perception of students whose fathers cared a little was significantly higher than that of those whose fathers cared most and also higher than those whose mothers did not care. It was recommended that the home and the school should see it as a joint responsibility to inculcate road safety skills in adolescents.
