Recent developments in Ukraine and Syria have prompted us to reflect on the security of Poland as a full member of the now-largest NATO-military alliance. Since the Cold War, the Alliance has gone through far-reaching evolution. NATO's adaptation to the contemporary threats posed by the strategic security environment was a crisis response. Nevertheless, it should be borne in mind that the essential role of NATO consists in the collective defense of the members of the organization.
