A new series of 2-aryl/alkyl amino pyrimidines derivatives has been undertaken by the condensation of 1-ethyl-2-(ethylthio)-1,6-dihydro-6-oxo-4-phenylpyrimidine-5-carbonitrile with different alkyl/aryl amines. The electrophilic substitution reaction taking place between main moiety 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-4-oxo-6-phenyl-2-thioxopyrimidine-5-carbonitrile and ethyl iodide to give dialkylated compound which is followed by nucleophilic substitution reaction with amine to give different aryl/alkyl amino pyrimidine derivatives.
