Apoptosis is one of the kinds of cell death. This paper presents the morphological and
biochemical changes which are connected with apoptotic cell death. The factors, which activate
this process, are described in this article. Moreover the groups of genes, proteins and enzymes
that participate in the „call suicide” are characterised. The advantages and disadvantages of
the chosen methods of investigations are discussed.
