The effects of a sublethal dose of Danitol EC10 administered continously for a total period of 4 weeks, on the blood, liver and muscles of the Chinese grass carp has been described. The haemoglobin content and packed cell volume decreased, whereas the white and red blood cell counts increased after 4 weeks of treatment with the insecticide. The activity of hepatic acid phosphatase, glutamine oxalocetate transaminase (GOT) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) was significantly inhibited, while glutamate pyruvate transaminase activity, after an increase during the first two weeks, decreased by the end of the fourth week. The hepatic glycogen and free amino acids (FAA) content increased, while the total protein, glucose andnucleis acids contents decreased. In the muscles the LDH activity was inhibited throughout, while that of creatine phosphokinase showed significant inhibition during the first two weeks only. The soluble and total proteins and RNA content increased during the initial 1-3 weeks of insecticide treatment, while the FAA content remained raised throughout. The muscle glycogen decerased after four weeks of the experimental period.
