In vitro examination has been carried out to determine the influence of sodium propoxycarbazone, an active ingredient of Attribut 70 WG herbicyde, in a dose of 1,10,100 and 1000 ppm on the growth, sporulation, respiration and lipolytic and proteolytic activities of Beauveria brongniartii (Sacc.) Petch and Metarrhizium flavoviride Gams et Rozsypol mycelia. A specific response of each strain to the contact with the tested herbicyde was found. Higher concentrations of Attribut 70 WG (100 and 1000 ppm) stimulated M. flavoviride sporulation, whereas they significantly reduced the reproductive potentials of B. brongniartii. However, the contact of B. brongniartii with higher doses of Attribut 70 WG had an effect on significant increase of lipolytic and proteolytic activities of that entomophage. Such a response is very indicated for soil ecosystem, as it may be employed in biological plant protection in which B. brongniartii is a very valuable fungi species that produces epizootics of numerous plant pest insects.
