Results of investigation carried out on 'mechanical' and 'acoustical' emulsions of Baltic crude oil in artificial Baltic seawater are presented. It was demonstrated that the 'acoustical' emulsions are equivalent to the steady-state of 'mechanical' emulsions obtained at frequencies similar to those of waves induced by wind. It is shown that measurements of transmissivity in the visible region can be applied in the determination of dimensions of oil microdroplets
