Karyological analysis of Acupalpus /Stenolophus/ teutonus /schrank/ and Pogonus persicus,Chaud. /coleoptera, carabidae/

C-banding karyotype as well as the meiotic process of Acupalpus teutonus and Pogonus persicus were studied. A. teutonus has a karyotype with 24 mainly metacentric chromosomes, its meioformula is n=11+XY. The C-banding pattern showed that constitutive <heterochromatin> is located in the proximity of the centromere. The longer arms of the autosomes of the pairs 1,4,5 and 9 all being C-positive. In P. persicus, the diploid number is 22 (n=10+XY) with a predominance of the metacentric chromosomes in the karyotype. C-banding showed that the blocks of heterochromatin have proximal and distal location. In spermatogenesis achiasmatic division preavails.
