An investigation of selected triazine herbicides in solution and in suspended particu-late matter (SPM) was carried out in the Pomeranian Bay in 1995. Triazine concentrations were determined by gas chromatography in combination with quadrupole mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Particulate and dissolved material was separated from seawater by means of an in situ filtration/extraction system. The regional distribution of s-triazines in the western Pomeranian Bay in July 1995 is de-scribed. Triazine concentrations in solution displayed pronounced differences between individ-ual components (atrazine: 2-20 ng?dcm-3, simazine: 5-30 ng?dcm-3, terbuthylazine: <5 ng?dcm-3). Triazine concentrations in suspension were very low, often below the detection limit (50 pg?dcm-3).
