Uzależnienie od alkoholu związane jest z powstawaniem wielu chorób, między innymi różnego rodzaju schorzeń skóry. Mogą być one częste u osobników pijących, ale także bezdomnych, starszych i z małą odpornością ogólną, zarówno fizyczną, jak i psychiczną. Choroby skóry można podzielić na miejscowe choroby zakaźne, wywołane bakteriami i grzybami, oraz zakażenia ogólnoustrojowe, np. zranienia, zaburzenia metaboliczne, dermatozy, odmrożenia, pelagra czy świąd. Artykuł omawia między innymi objawy wszawicy (pediculosis), świerzbu (scabies), roztoczy (sarcoptes) i analizuje częstość ich występowania na tle skutków długookresowego oddziaływania przyjmowanego alkoholu. Modelowym przykładem przeciwdziałania wymienionym objawom jest postępowanie diagnostyczne i metodyka leczenia alkoholików w zakładach MOPiTU (Miejskiego Ośrodka Profilaktyki i Terapii Uzależnień) oraz w jego Zakładzie Terapii Uzależnień w Łodzi.

Alcohol addiction is connected with development of numerous diseases, among others with illnesses of skin. They are very frequent among the drinking and homeless individuals, and older men exhibiting decreased physical and psychological resistance. The skin diseases may be divided on the local infections caused by bacteria and fungi, and general infections, for example injures, metabolic disorders, dermatoses, frosbites and pellagra. In this article symptoms of pediculosis, scabies, sarcoptes etc. are analyzed in correlation with the frequency of alcohol addiction. As a model example of counteraction and curing of addicted people can serve diagnostic and therapeutic procedures employed in the Municipal Centre of Prophylaxis and Addiction Medicine (MOPiTU) and it's Department of Addiction Therapy (ZMU) in the town Łódź (about 600 thousand inhabitants).
