Information about the diversity and biology of aquatic and semiaquatic Lepidoptera including habitats, feeding, development and adaptations to respiration, in aquatic ecosystems is given. Moths with true aquatic larvae like Crambidae (Acentropinae and Pyraustinae) and Paracles laboulbeni (Arctiidae) are presented. The information about the European aquatic and semiaquatic Crambidae is given with special reference to Polish fauna.
