Summary The paper concerns the thrips, one of the groups of insects living at present on Earth. They are very abundant in the natural environment, though they are often unnoticed. Body constitution, bionomy and ecology of these interesting animals have been introduced; furthermore, the article includes helpful references and chosen photographs of some representatives of this group of insects.
