Summary In this article the author presents various approaches to gender and sex from the perspective of social psychology. The paper is divided into parts that focus on the most often discussed problems which are: understanding of gender, sex stereotypes and social myths, education and career, choosing the partner, friendship and close relationships. Each part contains a short introduction followed by some examples of studies which had a remarkable impact on the way we are thinking about gender today.
